E.ON Cycle Live Nottingham Grand Prix, Nat B – 13th July 2012

We Love Mountians Racing Teams Ben Ives comes 9^th in the E.ON Cycle Live Nottingham Grand Prix, the main attraction of E.ON Cycle Live Nottingham; a three day event which began on Friday (13 July) on Nottingham’s Victoria Embankment.

The weekend celebration of cycling kicked off on Friday (13 July) with the E.ON Nottingham Grand Prix; a National B elite circuit race on a one mile, closed track. Team Raleigh dominated the evening with elite rider Jamie Sparling taking 1^st place and his team mate Daniel Holloway coming home in 3^rd.

For Ben the race was a double edged sword, he let the initial early break go expecting it to come back together later in the race. Unfortunately, Ben’s plan didn’t work and he didn’t see the front of the race again.

However, after 40minutes of the hours racing Ben decided to go on the offensive and to try to gain some places and finish within the top 10. Once he opened up a gap off the front of his group Ben started to look and feel very strong, bridging across and past two groups of two riders before finally joining forces with riders from Fred Williams and Cycle Premier.

The three of them worked well together for the last few miles of the race bringing back another group of two riders. Coming into the sprint finish for 8^th position, Ben was narrowly beaten by Richard Hepworth of Cycle Premier.

Ben refuses to stop bringing home more and more points as the season continues.  Ben is definately on fire this season.
