Nick Coupland and Ben Ives
On the 2nd of July, Ben Ives and Nick Coupland competed in the Regional B Last of the Summer Wine Road Race in West Yorkshire, promoted by Holme Valley Wheelers on the tough Hade Edge circuit near Holmfirth.
Both riders performed respectively, staying in the lead group for the duration of the race. However, as the race headed to the top of the last climb of Flight Hill, attacks started to come thick and fast and it was one climb to much for Ben, who could only hold onto the back of the leading group till the line.
Nick on the other hand was much stronger and got himself involved in all of the action at the front of the race but unfortunately was edged out by his rivals in a bunch sprint finish, finishing just outside the top 10.
Again a great experience for these reletively new road racers who will continue to grow.
